Description
This car is powered by a 35/45HP 7.4 liter 4-cylinder engine. W.K. Vanderbilt liked the big Renault he drove in Europe, bought this one, then convinced 10 of his wealthy friends to also get one at a whopping 8,500 USD an example. The car was based on Renault's then-cutting edge racing technology, especially in Grand Prix racing, today's F1. The sloping nose was enabled by putting the brass-tube radiator behind the engine. Something done to protect it from flying stones from puncturing it. The car has other interesting features I'll discuss when I get the detail pics up. For its day it was very, very fast, capable of 65-70 MPH given a semi-decent road and a brave or very foolish driver and mechanic. Why a mechanic? The main reason was so they could keep an eye on the lubrication system, and also act as a rear-view or side-view mirror.
