1933 Alfa Romeo 8C2300

Here's the story. The 8C 2300 Monza more or less begins the fantastic Alfa 8C lineage. The car is basically a Grand Prix car (what F1 was BITD for you younger folks) that had fenders and headlights built onto it. Alfa contacted Ugo Zagato and had him create the body for this car, which is pretty flashy, sporty, and kind of striking the more you look at it.

This example was the second place finisher in the 1933 Mille Miglia. The figures bandied about for the supercharged engine, which incidentally sounds great, with a nice throaty growl and supercharger whirr vary from 155 to 180 HP. The solid rear axle makes this one more of a raw driving experience as compared to the more sophisticated later 8Cs that were developed from this car.
