1952 Frazer-Nash LeMans Replica Mk2

An original car. The term "replica" means something different with this car than what one is accustomed with using the term now. It's not a modern copy of a classic car.

The story is a bit convoluted, bear with me. Frazer-Nash had the pre-war BMW importer business for the UK. They took the iconic BMW 328, and with Bristol, developed the engine further, put the car on a rather strict diet, and took the resulting car to LeMans in 1949 where it finished third. Frazer Nash decided to call the new car the LeMans Replica, about 50 were built. I believe the main characteristic of the MkII is the rear boot lid. Early models had a one-piece rear body.

It handled well, was fast, and was well-regarded as a good road car and competitive sports car in its day. The headlights could be rotated 180 degrees so you could drive the car to the track, turn them around to protect them from stones, race the car, flip them back, and drive home. This particular example had a long racing career and has been in the possession of the Waltman family since 1958.

Personally, I hope enjoys another bicycle-fendered sports car from the earlyier era of racing and sports car design.
