Description

Serial 7164. The Dino was Ferrari's attempt to create an entry level car for their marque, and the 246 was very comparable in cost and performance to the Porsche 911 of that era. The Dino engine was a 6 cylinder 2.4 Liter affair, triple Webers producing 195 HP.  This has a targa style top, and it's not as practical as one might hope, actually. When removed, it's supposed to fit in a very tight space behind the seats, and the risk of damage is very high, so its best to leave it in, or if you wish to remove it, leave it carefully stored and hope it doesn't rain. 1,174 GTS were built, and really, it's a very handsome and attractive sports car of the era.

Beautiful. Although built by Ferarri it technically isn't. I don't think it was even badged as a Ferarri all. Rumour had it that because despite the love Enzo had for his late son he insisted that all Ferarris had 8 cylinders or more. Much in the same way BMW say none of their cars ever were, are or will be FWD ( *coughs* Mini Cooper, *coughs* new series 1 *coughs* )

It might have been intended as a standalone marque, like how Corvette is now no longer a model but a badge, or how Citroën (in the worst move yet IMO) are making the modern DS a brand.

In the end it's a beautiful well performing car that was built by Ferarri called Dino out of the love of a grieving father. I like to think Enzo wanted people to remember his sons name more than his company.

Not saying you should change the title of this, just saying that out of respect for Dino and his loving father Enzo I personally just call it Dino.
