Engine Compartment, Ford GT40 MKII/XGT-1

Note the elaborate "bundle of snake" headers characteristic of the Ford GT40. Note the single quad-carb 427/7 Liter Pushrod V-8 known by Ford as an "FE" engine. This 427 engine was developed specifically for racing. In certain circumstances (NASCAR), this engine was capable of about 616HP output with the 4-Barrel Carb, but in Endurance racing trim worked out to about 485 HP. One needed to detune to enable the car to survive for 24 Hours of Racing and over 3,000 miles, not just survive a 500 Mile NASCAR event. I'll get details up of the sticker on the Cylinder cover.

Also note how tight all of the ducting and cooling devices are. No space is wasted in this vehicle.
