Someone put up the 1996 Phantom Regiment show in all of it's Dark, brooding delicious goodness.
The corps went into Finals weekend expected to finish 5th and went out of their ever-lovin' minds to win the title.
The show's about Dimitri Shostakovitch, and how he had to deal with and even defy the Soviet regime, yet still create wonderful music. The show is as much about Phantom flipping off the judges and throwing down when it counted and finally winning a World Championship as well.
5:30 on is the Finale of his 5th Symphony, the Badassfuless of the Baris and Tymps, then the Sopranos....
The Low Brass just cranks this program all the way to the end, and the conductor's face says it all. She knew they'd performed out of their ever-lovin' minds, and so did the crowd.
9-15 to 9-30 one of the best Holy S|-| !+ !!!!!!!!! moments of all time.
10:05, the Kickhalt. Gotta have love for a Phantom Kickhalt.

Interpretations
I've been listening to various interpretations of the same piece of music, and then realized the same thing applies to visual art. A prime example of visual art, the same individual interpreted by various artists: Good Ol' Aarie: All of them really develop different aspects, and I enjoy them all! I'll get back to music later, your assignment if you should choose to accept it, is "Give it One".....
1998 Crossmen
Finals 1998 (youtube.com) I haven't posted a Journal of late. As always, I appreciate new followers, thank you! And I also appreciate interacting with you. I'm an old Drum Corps veteran, and well, since I have the Crossmen Logo as my icon, why not stick up a Crossmen show? My fave part of this Pat Metheny show is the Closer, "First Circle" at 6 minutes in. I love the usage of complex meter and rhythm, the tasty precussion, and the big fat chords in the brass. 7:40, a lovely shout and some tasty work from mellophones... 8:10, another great park-and-bark shout great deep chords... 9:38, this build and the great percussive counterpoint... LOVE IT. 10:40, sweet mellophone blaze... Big fat 9 chord at the end... Some neat moments. Enjoy!
Gremlin For Sale
We're Head Over Heels for this, Low-Mile 1970 AMC Gremlin! (msn.com) I'm not head over heels for one of these. I had the experience of driving one in the earlyd80's and I can tell you that as one friend said, "It has three gears, and the engine makes a different noise when you shift, but it doesn't go any faster." Dad test drove one in period and bought a Ford Pinto instead. THAT'S about as condemning a choice for the Gremlin as I can think of.
First Circle
ttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQCKL6ovz1g&list=RDGcW7BY_vaYk&index=4 Been rather down since New Year's Eve. Listened to one of my favorite tunes by the now defunct EPCOT Future Corps, enjoy. Thanks for all the new watchers. I do appreciate you!

The all black outfits are pretty daring I must say.
Nice fluid change of formation near the 5:30 you pointed out.
The brass "kicks all sorts of ass" as you would probably say. ^_^
